Mother’s Day Re-cap
I realize it’s almost mid-week, but I couldn’t let a Mother’s Day post pass me by. This being my first year celebrating as a Mommy, it was truly a special day. Andrew and I started out bright and early to run 3.1 miles for the Race for the Cure. The weather was pretty cloudy and cool, but was perfect for running. The course was VERY hilly (as is all of Pittsburgh) and I didn’t train on hills at all, so it was tougher than I anticipated. I’m so glad Andrew was by my side, because he was a wonderful motivator. He has run half-marathons many times in the past, and was very helpful for me on this measly 3 mile run! We ran in 36:02. I have to say, I am pretty proud I was able to do it. I have always hated running, and never thought I could train consistently for something like this..and I did it. It was fun, I love to run now and I can’t wait to start training for a 10k next! Who would’ve thought?! It was also so inspiring to see the thousands of people who came out on Mother’s Day to support survivors, fighters and the memory of those brave women with breast cancer. I think we will make this an every year tradition in our family :)
The rest of the day was very relaxed. Andrew spoiled me with yellow tulips, a homemade meal and a chance to take a long nap un-inturrupted. Luxury. (!) The best part of the day was spending time with the little girl who made me a Mommy. We played on the porch, took a nice walk and cuddled on the couch. Nothing beats that.
(a special thank you to Andrew—who has to do Charlotte’s job of spoiling me until she is big enough to do it herself!)
